New Moon Stasis

Sherbrooke Forest

Sometimes we have a lot of expectation of the New Moon. It's as if we think it will suddenly transform us and our world in one magical moment. But of course that's just us being human and wanting transformation to always come easy and quickly. I was waiting for that kind of change this morning with the Gemini New Moon and when it didn't happen I was perplexed. I've been in a low mood during the recent Dark Moon and I kept getting the same message over and over - to make no move - not that I would listen! Instead of just surrendering, relaxing and doing nothing, just like my daily readings with the Tarot kept advising me, I kept pushing and striving - trying to make change happen. Why do we find it so hard to do nothing? Or why do we think nothing is happening just because it doesn't look like it is or because we can't see it with our eyes. I decided to go for a walk in the forest to shake off the heaviness and today the trees were shrouded completely in mist. I couldn't see very far ahead at all. And the whole forest was absolutely silent under the mist and yet I was acutely aware of the Life that filled the forest. The air was thick with life and it was moving silently all around me. I was reminded of how we are standing on the brink of Winter and how much the trees and animals slow down in this time to preserve energy and hibernate.

I've decided to take a deeper look into decision making and how we can become more accepting in times of quiet and stasis in our lives in our Tarot workshop, Tarot of a WaterWitch, tomorrow night. I'm eager to remember the art of doing nothing!  Yesterday I created a spread to help in times of hard decision making, a spread that we can use when there are a several of paths or choices to take. These times often feel like we are standing at the centre of some divine crossroads.  And usually this is where we can get very blocked and afraid of taking the next step - as if there is ever really a wrong or right step to take. Yesterday I included a new path choice into the Tarot spread. It is the choice to 'do nothing'. I'm interested to see what happens when this choice comes up for the readers tomorrow. I will share the ins and outs of this spread to subscribers on Saturday - so if you would like to receive it, you can add your email address to the Subscriber box in the top right hand corner or email me at

The photo below is of the New Moon Crossroads Spread and in this photo you will see a curly-topped bell sitting beside the spread. This bell was created by a beautiful sister Sadie, as a trade for a medicine doll for her mother. Sadie created the magical saggar fired bell to help find what is lost - not necessarily objects. It was fired with seaweed, mango leaves and sawdust from a camphor laurel tree. I placed it beside my own Tarot reading to understand and find my sense of nothingness or no-time. I know what this feels like and I'm looking forward to remembering how to step back into no-time again.

And the photo below of the 2 black swans is for anyone feeling that they are riding difficult and deep waves tonight. Neptune is such a strong influence at the moment and is really affecting us water-beings. These 2 creature-teachers look so calm and still and yet on the day I took this photo near our old home in Williamstown, they were swimming in the middle of a raging storm.

Love to you all, however you find yourself tonight, it's all ok. Make a New Moon wish and set it free x

Gratitude: Joanna Powell Colbert and Gaian Tarot

The image you see above is from Joanna Powell Colbert's Gaian Tarot. Joanna is artist, author and teacher and for many years, she has been a huge inspiration to me. Perhaps it is because she too is a Water Woman that she feels so much like kin. I use the Gaian Tarot deck almost exclusively in our Swan Blessing healing sessions and balances and in most Tarot workshops and classes. I also use this deck daily to read for myself, to interpret dreaming, dive into the deep pool of the unconscious when I am too fixated on only what I see of the surface and to also attune to the rhythms of the Mother - Gaia. I have found this deck to be incredibly healing and gentle with a strong shamanic essence and deep connection to Mother Nature. If you are looking for a new deck to read with in these changing times or perhaps you are new to Tarot, I heartily urge you to begin your Tarot journey with the Gaian Tarot.
And this morning, we discovered that Joanna had just shared this message with her Gaian Tarot tribe:

"If you've been reading my work for any length of time, you know how important it is to me that our experience of the natural world is rooted in the place right where we live. So all of my nature musings are geared towards people who live in the Northern Hemisphere. If you are one of our friends who lives in the Southern Hemisphere, I know you are now approaching Autumn Equinox. I have not yet figured out a way to write authentically about my experience right here-and-now in a way that speaks to you too. Until I do, I'd like to direct you to Julia Inglis and Tony Esta at Sacred Familiar, who do really lovely seasonal work (among other things!) in Australia."

Dear Joanna, we are so honoured and deeply thankful! I hope that one day we may share Tarot Dreaming together here in Australia.
For all those who wish to work online with Joanna in her amazing 'Gaian Soul Seasonal Practices', Joanna is taking registrations for her next 5 week course discovering the wise teachings of Spring. These courses are deeply nourishing and valuable to us all wherever we are in the world. A gift for all those wanting to learn how to listen and work with Mother Nature and awaken their own naturally creative talents.
Joanna! Love to you across the oceans mermaid sister.

The Last Path Within Tarot Course

Hello Bright Ones, we are drawing up to Spring and as the wheel turns I am being called to travel more with The Swan Blessing and shamanic sessions. Along with these new travel commitments I am feeling a calling to do deeper work more personally, one-to-one in private consultation. This means I will be bringing my teaching circles to an end for a while and I will no longer be able to offer The Path Within Tarot and Spiritual Development Course. I have felt a calling to commit to our work with The Swan Blessing shamanic past life clearing and The Black Swan work embracing our Dark Sister to understand the Shadow. In this potent time of change I have noticed sessions becoming deeper and raw and very beautiful as we cast of the chains of fear and ties to the past to step into the path of the fearless healer, teacher, artists, honour the raw and beautiful changes in our clients I must be so very present and committed to this work alone.

The Seer  - Wildwood Tarot

For all of you who have journeyed in these circles over the many years, I thank you with all my heart and wish you well on your own adventures with this beautiful intuitive tool. In a Tarot sense, I feel I am moving after many years of The Empress into The High Priestess or The Seer as I like to call her. For all of those beautiful souls familiar with this card and energy, it is also a time of connecting deeper with my own ancestor teachers and the creative well of my heart to complete creative projects that have been waiting for me to have space enough to complete them with full attention and intention. This will see the birth of the long awaited Beyond the 9th Wave journeying and meditation cd, healing cds, encaustic art oracle and channeled booklet and animal messenger totem oracle deck.

The Seeker - Gaian Tarot

And so it is that the last The Path Within will begin on the first week in September. In this last journey of The Path we will focus particularly on reading intuitively in YOUR OWN WAY and trusting your way. I will be reading with The Gaian Tarot as well as the traditional decks as I feel The Gaian Tarot is the spirit of the new evolving energy of the Tarot. I encourage you to choose a Tarot deck that speaks to your heart with it's beauty - a deck that seems to speak from image alone. If you feel called, there are 3 places left and I hope to set you all on a path towards your own mastery as a Tarot Reader - I'll try and squeeze in EVERYTHING I know! You can read full details of the course here:

Oceans of love as the frontiers open to new horizons for us all,

keep dreaming, Julia
